LivingRoom Ladder

How to play

Ten phases to climb, one a hand, and the first to the top wins. The same rules are in the app, under Rules on the home screen.

  1. The goal

Climb the ten phases, one a hand at most. The first to finish the last phase wins. If more than one finishes it in the same hand, the lowest score wins.

  2. The pack

108 cards: 1 to 12 twice in each of four colours, 8 wilds and 4 skips.

  3. The ten phases

A set is cards of one number; a run is numbers in a row, in any colours.

    Phase 12 sets of 3
Phase 21 set of 3 and 1 run of 4
Phase 31 set of 4 and 1 run of 4
    Phase 41 run of 7
    Phase 51 run of 8
    Phase 61 run of 9
    Phase 72 sets of 4
Phase 87 cards of one colour
Phase 91 set of 5 and 1 set of 2
Last phase1 set of 5 and 1 set of 3
  4. A turn

Draw the top card of the pile, or take the top discard. Lay your phase down if you can, add cards to groups on the table once it's down, and end by discarding one card.

  5. Laying down

Your whole phase goes down at once, from your hand. Miss it and you try it again next hand; make it and you're on the next one, even if you didn't go out.

  6. Adding to groups

Once your phase is down, on your turn you can add cards that fit to any group on the table, yours or anyone's.

  7. Wilds and skips

A wild stands for any number or colour, and every group needs at least one numbered card. Discard a skip to make someone lose their next turn. A skip can never be picked up or used in a group.

  8. Scoring

The hand ends when someone has no cards left. Everyone else scores what they're left holding, and lower is better.

    1 to 95 points
    10 to 1210 points
    A skip15 points
    A wild25 points
