How to play

Be the first to empty your stock pile. The same rules are in the app, under Rules on the home screen.

  1. The goal

Be the first to play every card in your stock pile.

  2. The deck

162 cards: twelve each of 1 through 12, plus 18 wild cards that can stand for any number.

  3. The deal

Everyone gets a face-down stock pile with its top card face up: 30 cards each with two to four players, 20 each with five or six. Shorter games deal fewer.

  4. Your turn

Draw until you hold five cards. Then play onto the build piles in the middle from your hand, the top of your stock pile, or the top of any of your discard piles.

  5. The build piles

Up to four piles everyone shares. Each starts with a 1 (or a wild) and climbs in order to 12. A finished pile is set aside, and a new one can start in its place.

  6. Keep going

Play as many cards as you like. Empty your hand and you draw five more and keep playing — a good turn can run a long way.

  7. Ending your turn

Put one card from your hand on one of your four discard piles. Any card, any pile, any order — but only the top card of a discard pile can be played later, so think about what you bury.

  8. Running out of cards

When the draw pile runs out, the finished build piles are shuffled into a new one and play carries on.

  9. Winning

Play the last card of your stock pile to win. You score 25 points, plus 5 for every card left in everyone else's stock pile.

  10. If the table locks up

Rarely, nobody can play and there's nothing left to draw. The game ends there and the fewest stock cards wins.

  11. Playing here

Tap a card to pick it up, then tap where it goes: the piles it fits glow. Tap it again to put it back, or drag it instead. Your turn ends when you discard.
