LivingRoom Bank or Bust

What's new

Every build of Bank or Bust so far, newest first: 22 of them. TestFlight shows only the newest few, so the whole story is kept here.

Build 22

  • A banner from the last move (a bonus, a bust, a last card and the like) no longer pops up over the Game Over card.

Build 21

  • Unfinished online games are checked with iCloud less often as they age, all at once rather than one by one, and not at all after a month unplayed. A game someone left or finished elsewhere still clears from your list, sooner for recent games.
  • For testers: Settings › Beta also counts the game's iCloud requests and any slow-down iCloud asked for.

Build 20

  • Switch to another app mid-game and the game is saved exactly as it stands, so if iOS closes it while you're away, Continue picks up where you were, not at the start of the hand.
  • An online game stays connected for about half a minute after you switch away, long enough to answer a message.
  • For testers: Settings › Beta shows how your saved games are syncing with iCloud, and Send Feedback includes it. If deleted games come back, send feedback from that game.

Build 19

  • On an iPad held sideways, a full table's players fit in the column; at eight they ran off the top and bottom.

Build 18

  • How to throw on your first turn is now part of Show hints in Settings.

Build 17

  • The round buttons over the table are clear glass again, as before the last build.

Build 16

  • The buttons over the table stand out from the felt: dark circles with light symbols.
  • The rules button is a question mark, and the close button is a quieter outline set a little apart, so it isn't hit by mistake.
  • The title at the top of the table (whose turn it is) is centred on the screen, not pushed to one side by the buttons.

Build 15

  • The rules are a tap away at the table: the book button beside the close button.
  • The screen stays on while you're at the table, so it no longer dims and locks while you wait on someone else's turn.
  • If your saved games ever can't be opened, the app still starts and plays rather than closing straight away.

Build 14

  • With no name typed for practice, you play under your Game Center name, so your avatar shows your initial, not a Y.
  • Your Game Center picture or Memoji shows on your seat in practice games too, not just online.

Build 13

  • Players show their Game Center picture or Memoji where they have one, you included; anyone without one keeps their initial.

Build 12

  • Your name and score no longer sit in a bar at the bottom: your tile in the players' row shows them. Your turn's panel (card, points, Roll and Bank) shows only on your turn.

Build 11

  • On a phone too, you're in the players' row with everyone else, in the order you play, and your tile lights up gold on your turn.

Build 10

  • On an iPad held sideways, Roll and Bank no longer break over two lines.
  • On an iPad you're in the players' column (or row) with everyone else, in the order you play.

Build 9

  • The dice in the tray sit in the middle of it, top to bottom, picked or set aside.
  • On an iPad the cup is tapped: shaking is for phones only, and Settings, the how-to-throw card and the rules say so.
  • Thrown dice stay on the table: they no longer fly over the other players' names.
  • iPad in landscape: the other players and your turn are drawn bigger, to fill the height.
  • Turning an iPad no longer deals the cards on the table all over again.
  • Cards flying across the table land in the right place after you turn an iPad.
  • The banner for a big moment (a hand or round over, and the like) is solid instead of see-through, with bigger, brighter text under it.

Build 8

  • After a fill you choose: Bank keeps the turn's points, Draw a Card (or a tap on the glowing pile) plays on under a new card with them at stake.
  • Your own bust stays on the table: the dice at full strength and the Bust message, long enough to turn the phone back over and see what you threw.
  • Deleting your last saved game: "No games yet" fades in once the list has gone, instead of on top of it.
  • Turning the phone back up after pouring no longer starts a new shake, so the dice stay on the table.
  • No gold ring where a card lands: on a pile that cleared as the card landed, it outlined empty places.
  • Under Roll to Bust you pick the dice to set aside, as under every card: nothing is kept for you, so you can miss something. You still can't bank, and a bust still keeps the points.
  • Nothing throws until you've turned your card: a shake, a pour or a tap on the cup says to tap the pile first. A shake before you've picked a scoring die says so too.
  • One turn of the phone pours once: still face down as the dice landed, it sometimes poured them again.
  • Turning the phone over while the dice rattle always pours them. Bank or Bust's second throw sometimes didn't.
  • Dice no longer land under the draw pile.
  • The draw pile is bigger, and glows rather than wearing a gold line when it's yours to turn.
  • Every throw goes through the cup, as in Five Dice: tap the cup, tap Roll or shake the phone, and the dice left on the table are shaken and poured. Dice you pick stay in the tray.
  • Shaking the phone takes exactly the dice you didn't pick; a die no longer gets left lying beside the cup.
  • The line about the last turn clears as soon as you throw.
  • Join with Code is a shorter sheet: the table is looked for as soon as all six digits are in (no Join button), and Paste and Scan QR Code sit side by side under the code.
  • Cards other players play no longer carry a grey dot as they fly.

Build 7

  • Dice you set aside stay put when you roll: picked fives no longer jump back into the cup or swap with other dice.
  • The line under the table clears as soon as you throw.

Build 6

  • Dice you pick go straight to the tray, as in Five Dice: tap one there to put it back, then roll the rest.
  • The card on another player's tile has its name beside it, big enough to read.
  • How the last turn went clears once the next player throws, and your cup no longer shows on someone else's turn.

Build 5

  • Under the Roll to Bust card, each throw stays on the table for a moment with the scoring dice marked, before they're set aside, so you can follow it.

Build 4

  • Turn your own card: tap the draw pile at the start of your turn, and after a fill.
  • Each player's card and points so far sit on their tile. Yours are in your panel on your turn.
  • Roll and Bank buttons. Roll sets aside the dice you picked and throws the rest.
  • A bust stays on the table for a moment, so you can see the dice.

Build 3

  • Fixed: shaking the phone and then tapping the cup could leave dice stuck in the cup, with a message to pick dice that score. A tap mid-shake now throws the dice you're shaking.

Build 2

  • The game's own icon, table felt and card backs.

Build 1

  • The first build of LivingRoom Bank or Bust. Six dice and a deck of cards: bank your points or push your luck.
  • Play to a score from 5,000 to 50,000, or against the clock for 5 to 20 minutes.
